It's a great supporting player in a routine, but it's not the star ingredient some brands position it as.
Verdict: Solid hydration tool. Effective when used correctly. Don't expect miracles.
The Ingredients That Are Mostly Vibes
Some ingredients get enormous marketing budgets and relatively thin clinical support. A few worth approaching with healthy skepticism:
- Colloidal gold: No meaningful clinical evidence it does anything for skin.
- Snail mucin: Interesting preliminary data, but most human trials are small and industry-funded. Not harmful, just unproven at scale.
